IUPAT It's About Jobs! Bus Tour Makes New IUPAT HQ Its Final Stop

The bus, wrapped in IUPAT signature black and gold colors and It's About Jobs! emblazoned across both sides, drove across 21 states beginning with Washington, and ended its journey at IUPAT headquarters in Hanover, Maryland on September 25.  Along the way, IUPAT members met with dozens of candidates for public office and staged nearly 60 events to rally union members to vote.  It was an enormous undertaking in a small amount of time but well worth the strategic challenges the organizers in the IUPAT Government Affairs Department faced every day.  Watch video and more about the tour at www.IUPAT.org/tour!

The IUPAT 'It's About Jobs!' bus made its final stop at the new

Stimulus Dollars at Work - Painters now at work on the Brooklyn Bridge

Federal Stimulus dollars are now putting union members to work on the Brooklyn Bridge, according to George Galis, general Secretary and Treasurer of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT).

"The project is proof that federal, state, and local government can work together and create jobs," said Galis.

Galis spoke at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City just after sunrise September 23. He was joined by elected officials, union leaders, and dozens of construction workers preparing to start their shifts working on the Brooklyn Bridge rehabilitation project now underway.
